Kool-Aid

Kool Aid was invented in Hastings Nevada by Edward Perkins.  The seven original flavors were grape, cherry, lemon lime, root beer, Orange, Strawberry, and Raspberry.  When Kool-Aid came out it was first called "Fruit Smack", it was only sold with mail orders at first.  In 1927 it was switched to Kool-Aid then there was a brand introduced to everyone.


Pineapple Upside Down Cake

In 1926 Dole Pineapple held a contest for the best 100 recipes.  The top 100 would be put in a magazine.  Out of 60,000 recipes sent in 2,500 of them were for the cake.  It easily took number one and became one of the most popular foods in the 1920's


Pez

Pez was invented in 1927 in Vienna, by Edward Haas 3.  It was first a peppermint made for adult smokers.  Pez stands for PheffErminZ.  The first dispenser didn't come out until 1948 and it was shaped like a cigarette lighter.  Each pez has 35 calories, sugar free pez has 30.
On the pez dispensers there is a number it tells you what country it came from.  The number is on the right top of the stem, all by itself.

Frozen Food

CLarence Birdseye figured out how to quickly freeze foods in 1924.  The food was frozen in rectangular shapes.  Birdseye was workinh in the Artic when he found that meat that was frozen immediatly kept its flavor.  He started a business called Birdseye Seafood, Inc which helped him further develop freezing the meat.  Even after he died the business kept going and is still running today.


Bread Slicer

In 1927 Otto Frederick worked on his idea of a bread slicer for years.  Unfortunately there was a fire in his factory and the original blue prints got burnt.  But he kept trying and finally produced won that immediately was wanted by every baker around.


Dubble Bubble Gum

Dubble Bbble Chewing Gum was invented in 1928 was an accountant who work for a gum making facory.  Dubble Bubble was the first bubble gum ever invented.  His wife said that he never got praised for the invention but he didn't mind he stayed with company for decades and became the vice president.


Popup Toaster

McGraw Electric company invented the first popup toaster in 1926.  There motto was "perfect toast every time without watching, without burning, and without turning."  It cost $12.50 and has been perfected every since.
